Safeguarding Course

Details of our Safeguarding course following changes from BE on license requirements for coaches.

Safeguarding and Protecting Children Course

For 2017/18, to be a licensed coach with Basketball England and work with anyone aged 18 or under in regulated activity in a supervisory role, at any level, you must hold a current, clear Enhanced DBS which has been carried out within the last three years.

In addition to this, all coaches must have a current safeguarding certificate. You should also ensure that someone within your team, either yourself, an assistant or team follower, has adequate first aid training. If the above applies to you or someone within your team, you will need to supply a copy of your DBS certificate and certificate to show you have passed a safeguarding course to Basketball England directly or via your Registrar who will forward them to BE for your records. You will be unable to register for the 2017/18 season until this has been done.

Because of this requirement from BE, the SBA have put on a Safeguarding Course for any member to attend. The course will be held on Wednesday 27th September 2017 at Chessington Sports Centre, Garrison Lane, Chessington, Surrey, KT9 2JS, commencing at 7:45pm sharp. The nearest train station is Chessington South. On site parking is available.

Cost £10
